Fake smile
In a world where masks conceal our truth,
I wear a smile so bright, so uncouth.
It dances upon my lips, a facade so bold,
Hiding the emotions that I secretly hold.
A fake smile, like a clever disguise,
Conceals the pain within my eyes.
It's painted with colors, oh so vivid,
But beneath the surface, my heart feels timid.
It laughs at jokes, it nods and grins,
But deep down, a battle it begins.
For underneath this mask, I long to weep,
To let go of the secrets I silently keep.
Yet, I wear this smile, a shield so strong,
To protect myself from a world so wrong.
I plaster it on, day after day,
Hoping no one sees the cracks that betray.
But amidst the charade, a lesson I find,
That sometimes, the strength is in being kind.
For even if my smile is not quite true,
It may bring solace to another, too.
So, I'll continue to wear this fake smile,
To brighten hearts, if only for a while.
For in this world, where pain runs deep,
A counterfeit grin can bring some peace.
